We have officially launched our very first YouTube channel, available at http://www.youtube.com/user/NewcastleJobsBoard.
As discussed in Yesterdays post, we plan to populate this with a number of articles to help you get kick started and motivated into employemnt, if you need it!
We also understand that a number of people don’t need this sort of motivation, as they are actively looking for jobs, however, the series of videos we are planning, of which all will be based around jobs in Newcastle, will hopefully provide some insight into roles which you never thought you could do!
Utilizing the video giant, we hope to gain far more exposure than simply using a blog or Twitter. Plus, its better to watch than read!
All of our video’s will provide links to our website, where you can begin your Newcastle Jobs search, with many jobs added daily to our website, both Part Time jobs and Full Time jobs.
Our current video is a simple Ident, but please keep checking back, and we will have a series available shortly.
Your thoughts are appreciated.
One of our primary aims here at Newcastle Jobs Board is to utilize Social Networking to its maximum potential to help you, the job hunter, find the best jobs in Newcastle and help you on your way to gaining employment. We also aim to open your mind to the endless opportunities which are currently out there, the ones you thought you could never do, we will show that if you have determination, you can get your dream job!
To do this, we have decided to set up a YouTube Channel, and fill this with Video’s on gaining employment.
Our initial idea is to create a series of video’s which look at how professionals currently undergoing jobs in Newcastle go about their daily lives. This would range from Jobs in call centres, the media, retail, law, medical and many more. To put it bluntly, the series would be a ‘day in the lives’ of people in various professions.
The primary objective is to assist the unemployed in gaining a more clear and accurate insight in to what it is like being employed, and to get an idea into the various roles of which are currently available, and what you could be doing. The videos will demonstrate that working life is not dull , and will aim to encourage people to get off the benefit system and begin to look at building a career in Newcastle.
At the same time, the video’s will not be solely directed to people on the benefit system, as mentioned, it will also provide those who are trying to gain employment a look at the roles in which they never thought they could apply for, giving them the confidence to build upon past experience and gain the job of their dreams!
More ideas are currently floating about, but we will keep you posted.

Ian Duncan Smith, the Work and Pensions Secretary has today suggested that people are ‘short sighted’ in saying there are no Jobs in today’s economy.
Mr Duncan Smith has expressed his desire to ensure that having a full time job is more financially attractive than being on social benefits, of which he recognises the increased amount of people who are turning to the UK benefit system as an alternative to gaining employment.
Mr Duncan Smith today said, speaking at the Conservative Spring Conference;
It’s short-sighted to say there aren’t any jobs at the moment. The fact is there are around half a million vacancies in the economy at the moment
He went on to say;
It’s not the absence of jobs that’s the problem. It’s the failure to match the unemployed to the jobs there are.
The last 13 years saw the number of people in employment increase by 2.5 million. And yet we have around five million people on out-of-work benefits today.
Mr Duncan Smith implied that the way to fill the currently vacant positions was to ensure that jobless become more competent for the roles of which are currently available. The Works and Pensions Secretary also insisted that the increase in immigration had also added to the demand of gaining a post in the UK;
So who took all the new jobs? Over half of them went to foreign nationals. This isn’t about immigration. It is a simple question of supply and demand.
140 jobs are to be axed on North Tyneside according to the council in a bid to save £24m.
The council aim to brace themselves for a mega budget cut and expect around 90 employees to leave by the end of March, of which would most likely be redundancies, with a further 50 redundancies in the coming 12 months.
Mayor Linda Arkley, in an interview with BBC News said,
“Despite the challenges we have made choices that protect the front line services that matter most to our residents.
“We have also focused on growing this borough – providing investment and jobs, regeneration our communities and supporting our businesses.”
North Tyneside Council do not expect any cuts to effect public services.
